Michelle Stone was born in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated with a B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Since 1981, Stone completed over 70 exhibitions both solo and as part of a group. Though she exhibits primarily in the Chicago area, her work has been shown nationally and internationally.
For thirteen years, Stone worked as an Art Therapist with Rush Medical Center while she also taught Art Appreciation Workshops with Chicago Public Schools. In 1982, Stone returned to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to teach Painting and Drawing through their Continuing Studies Program.
After teaching for twenty-five years, she now focuses on her work with the non- profit organization Art Encounter directing workshops and teaching.
